Serving our Veterans

San Luis Obispo’s only V.A. approved short-term rehab and extended care facility

Mission View Health Center not only provides 24-hour nursing care for our community’s Veterans, it also acts as its own functioning community, giving our Veterans a chance to continue to live their lives and affect positive change.

Regardless of whether our Veteran’s need short-term rehabilitation or extended care, our goal is to help restore each resident to his or her highest level of functioning.  A plan of care is designed to meet the individual medical and social needs of each person living within our community with emphasis on promoting quality of life. Our caring staff, in keeping with the spirit of the Central Coast, believes that quality of life should be the priority in caring for our Veterans.

A whopping 70% of our countries veterans have no idea that they might be eligible for disability payments or VA-compensated nursing care. For most veterans, entry into the VA health care system begins by applying for enrollment. To apply, complete VA Form 10-10EZ, Application for Health Benefits, which may be obtained from the V.A. Outpatient Clinic in San Luis Obispo located at: 1288 Morro Street, Suite 200, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401  or the regional benefits office in Santa Maria located at: 1550 East Main Street, Santa Maria, CA 93454, (805) 354-6000. It can also be completed on line at US Department of Veterans Affairs or by calling 1-877-222-VETS (8387). Once enrolled, veterans can receive health care at Mission View Health Center located conveniently in San Luis Obispo, closer to the support of their own families and loved ones than a traditional VA hospital provides.

Working together, The V.A. and Mission View Health Center determine if you meet the general admission criteria for short-term or extended care. For more information on admission criteria, please contact Nicole Dauphine, Mission View Health Center’s Resource Management Director at (805) 772-2237.
